The Cost of War: The World After WWII
Considered to be one of the biggest and the most damaging war in
human history, World War II led to the loss of thousands if not millions
of lives. Aside from the death of soldiers in the forefronts of battle,
a considerable number of Jews were also annihilated by the Nazi forces,
and up until today, officials have not come up with a specific number of
the people that suffered the genocide. With this much loss, you may come
to think: this war really worth fighting for? Here is a list of a few of
World War II impacts that took place after the war-are they good or not?
It’s up to you to decide.

- European Imperialism was ended
After the war, most if not all of the European continent was left in
ruins. This was extremely damaging to the rest of the European
colonies. The World War II impact and the large cost of the war
drained all of the Imperialist’s powers of maintaining their colony,
much more expanding it. And with “nationalistic spirit” rising in
European colonies such as India and Pakistan, Imperialist countries
such as France and Britain had no choice but to let go of their hold
on these countries.
- The birth of the Superpowers
USSR and the United States came out as one of the most powerful
forces that led the Allied forces to victory. After the war, both
countries rose and became leaders in industry, technology and
agriculture. The US suffered so little during the war, with no
invasions whatsoever in their soils, this World War II impact gave
them the ability to rise above the rest of the countries and began
their political and economic reign in the global stage.
- The creation of the United Nations
With the failure of the League of Nations to maintain global peace,
a new alliance was created, United Nations. Unlike its predecessor,
this organization is now more hands on in terms of giving
humanitarian aid to different countries and in their fight for peace
and human rights.
- The start of the Nuclear Era
With the very first nuclear weapon used and known to the public, the
bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ushered dawn of extensive nuclear
research and the manufacture of many more nuclear powered artillery.
Until present, manufacturing of nuclear weapons and their regulation
remain to be one of the hottest issues in many countries.

The World War II impact brought about a lot of good changes in
the political and military setting in many countries and brought
about new diplomatic and humanitarian laws. But it also ushered a
new war between USSR and the US, what we know now as the cold war.
As dark as this moment in humanity may seem, the courage and the
bravery shown by many soldiers and their stories of fighting for
freedom has indeed made it something worth remembering.
